Walkable roofs
The pressure-stable and reliable installation system for walkable paving on roofs.
The paving must be suitable for load class 1 (N1). This system uses ≥ 40 mm concrete tiles. For other types of paving, we refer to detailed information in our brochure ‘Nophadrain systems for trafficable roofs’.
See below what this application looks like with an inverted roof construction.
Technical data
Example composition
Pavement (combined with vegetation) ≥ 40 mm: concrete tiles
Laying course 30 - 50 mm: crusher sand or grid 1/3 - 2/5
ND 220 Drainage System; filter layer, drainage layer, protective layer glued into one product.
Waterproofing membrane
A strong core
The core of this walkable roof system is the ND 220 Drainage System. This multifunctional, CE-marked drainage system has a compressive strength of 700 kPa. The drainage system is equipped with a strong filter geotextile at the top and a pressure-dividing slip foil at the bottom. The drainage system protects the waterproofing membrane against the build-up of water pressure. Good drainage ensures that the surface of the paving is protected from cement residue and discoloration. Furthermore, the ND 220 Drainage System prevents frost damage caused by freezing of the subsurface. It therefore ensures a stable surface for the paving.
Double slip layer
The ND 220 Drainage System is installed on top of the ND TGF-20 Separation and Slip Film, so that a double slip layer is created. This prevents mechanical and dynamic loads, both during and after construction, from being passed on to the waterproofing membrane.
Combine paving with vegetation
For this system the paving can be combined with vegetation. If the waterproofing membrane is not root resistant, the ND WSB-80 Root Barrier should be added to the composition of this utility roof.
