Trafficable roofs – heavy goods vehicles
The pressure-stable and reliable system for installing paving on roofs and underground structures that can be driven by heavy goods vehicles.
The paving must be suitable for load class 3 (N3). This structure uses ≥ 100 mm interlocking pavement blocks. For other types of paving, we refer to detailed information in our brochure ‘Nophadrain systems for trafficable roofs’.
See below what this application looks like with an inverted roof construction.
Technical data
Example composition
Waterproofing membrane
ND 620hd Drainage System; filter layer, drainage layer, protective layer glued into one product.
Sub-base layer: ≥ 150 mm, crushed natural material 0/32
Laying course 30 - 50 mm: grit 1/3
Pavement (combined with vegetation) ≥ 100 mm: interlocking pavement blocks
A strong core
The core of this trafficable (for heavy goods vehicles) roof system is the ND 620hd Drainage System. This multifunctional, CE-marked drainage system has a compressive strength of 1,200 kPa. The drainage system is equipped with a strong filter geotextile at the top and a pressure-dividing slip film at the bottom. The drainage system protects the waterproofing membrane against the build-up of water pressure. The ND 620hd Drainage System ensures good water drainage from the sub-base layer and prevents freezing and rutting in the paving elements. It therefore provides a stable and durable surface for the elemental paving.
Double slip layer
The ND 620hd Drainage System is installed on top of the ND TSF-100 Slip and Protection Sheet, creating a double sliding layer. This prevents mechanical and dynamic loads, both during and after construction, from being passed on to the waterproofing membrane.
Combine paving with vegetation
For this system the paving can be combined with vegetation. If the waterproofing membrane is not root resistant, the ND WSB-80 Root Barrier should be added to the composition of this utility roof.
